Ding, Dong, January is gone. Time seems to move quicker these days. Is it me getting older, being busier and doing more things?
The shoot went really well yesterday. Having my picture taken so many times I’ve learned what it takes to get done as soon as possible. As a model, I know part of my job is making the photographer’s job easier. A typical shoot for Channel 1 used to take 2 hrs. for photos sets to use for box covers, publicity, etc. Now Greg and I blow through them in about 45 mins.
James had just done a session with Dita Von Teese, Marilyn Manson’s wife, in Vegas. He drove down Monday afternoon and was painfully on time. I was at the grocery store with Mike when he arrived. I didn’t believe him when he said, “I’ll see you at noon Mon.”….no one is ever that punctual!
Following a frantic shower I was out the door heading over to a location I had never heard of. He wanted to shoot in the hills. Perfect! I knew a great trail my trainer showed me. When we parked the car he began unloading all his equipment. I mean, we didn’t have a donkey or anything. I decided that this was not going to work….at all. I told James that the location I was thinking about was (pointing straight upwards). We stood perplexed at what to do next.
Then I remembered that my friends have a million dollar home, recently built from ground up, with 3 bedrooms – all with their own pvt bath and all rooms face the outdoor, in-ground pool and jacuzzi. And I have a set of keys. “Brilliant!” he exclaimed.
We shot all over and in the pool. We then took a drive out on Highway 111 to get his desert shots, We ended a little after 3, 2 hours for a high gloss UK fashion print ain’t so bad……right Tyra!
Turns out that he got the idea from a friend we share through Boy George. Small world man, small world! He asked her, who was the hottest guy in porn these days…well, we all know who she chose. Thanks Kristine!

Mike arrived at 1o pm! He looked exhausted and complained of stomach pains, I told him that two days of drinking Red Bull and those other crack-in-can drinks aren’t so good for the stomach lining. We went for a drive to look for an open restaurant. Slim pickins late on Sunday evening. We found a great French style bistro and had Pork Medallions and Salmon En Croute. Very nice, definitely a place to keep in mind. I had been purposely vague in my description of PS to Mike. After all, you really cannot explain something to somebody and say “OK, this is what it’s like” just like when a customer asks “how is the 98 St. Julien, what does it taste like?” I cannot answer that, I explain what I find in it, or about it, but ultimately… it’s all relative.
Mike had this idea in his head of tumbleweeds rolling around and stray dogs roaming through trash bins in packs. He was quite surprised to see such an amazing landscape and a downtown area complete with shops and ice cream parlors and GREEN!…..Lots of GREEN! I explained that PS is built on a huge underground lake, hence the vast number of golf courses. He was floored. It was really cool to see his eyes open up to this whole new world. I felt lucky to share that with him.
It’s amazing seeing somebody after a couple of years apart. To be reconnected and see just how much you have both have grown – especially with an x b/f. We are not the same people anymore, that is obvious. He was amazed that I had a book by Anne Lamont and a subscription to National Geographic. When he opened my fridge and found my collection of sprouts and organic what-have-you, he blurted “since when?” That’s when it hit me. He had no idea what I do now or how I live these days.
Over dinner we caught up. Again hearing him speak on this on that and what he thought about this and that, well, it was really nice to see such growth, same goes for me. He couldn’t believe some of the things I have done, buying a place, buying a truck, taking sewing lessons and studying for my exam. This man that I shared so much with for a year of my life has changed and now he is back.

Today is the day my friend Mike arrives from the saturated state of Oregon. He’s only hours away and I’m a little anxious. The first thing I will relegate him to is the fucking router for my computer. OK, maybe I’ll let him unpack first.
Tomorrow should prove exciting. I have a shoot with James from Attitude Magazine in the UK. He wants to do some desert shots up in the hills. I am all for it! Love a location shoot. I wonder though how this all came about. I mean he sent an email about a month ago asking me if I would be up for the shoot, of course I said yes, but I wonder what gave him the idea. Something to talk about while he’s setting up.

I take back anything good that I said about the handyman who was taught by his father and seemed “so perfect.” I have a shitty vanity in my bathroom that I want to remove and replace with a respectable pedestal sink. There will be some re-tiling necessary requiring a wet saw. I will be doing the re-patching and painting myself and I have the needed tiles and sink. There is really not that much labor involved. Certainly not enough for a $500 quote. That’s right – 5 bills. I was so floored I had to ask him to repeat himself. Needless to say I told him that I was going to pass. After a couple conversations about it with friends I came to the conclusion that I was probably being had. HOT! Whatever. You get in what you put out.
I called the contractor who went MIA on me. He was predictably apologetic with a full range of excuses. Fine. I told him that I completely understood that he was busy and had other jobs, but I would really like to get my bathroom done. It is affecting my mood. He was suprisingly understanding and I felt we had reached a new level in our relationship. He said he would get back to me by Monday. At the very least I will have three days of hope.

Every now and then I get to do something different from the photo shoots, sex scenes and dance gigs. Talk shows for instance, not to mention headlining major fashion shows for androgenous pop stars. The appearance on Q TV’s Queer Edge with Chi Chi and Sandra Bernhard last night was quite an experience. I thought the show was going to be a bit more polished, but it was very cute, sort of like Wayne’s World. I didn’t say much, I was a guest of Chi Chi’s. There is a certain way of directing the flow of conversation in a talk show environment. I was a bit out of my element. As you may expect, Chi Chi and Sandra were unstoppable with their witty banter.
Normally I would have been very uncomfortable with this scene, but I was perfectly content. It helped that for the entire show I was basically being held by Sandra in a very Motherly way that was so just so surreal I could barely speak. She also commented on my toe. Yes, my toe. I wore flip flops to the show. As I came out, she said, “Now if you were a lesbian wearing a toe ring, I would have to say something, but on you it looks so cute”…she was hooked on Johnny after that. That was until she saw my toe. I put my right foot atop of my left thigh, facing her. She was about to say something else when she looked down and said, “now that I am a mother, I look at peoples feet and toes…and I have to say you must cut that toe nail” …Referring to the one next to my big toe….it was kinda bad. I told her it was one of my bad habits. We moved on after that. She took one of my books and a couple of videos. I don’t know why really. Do lesbians like Gay Porn? For what reason? The entire taping took about an hour. It seemed like a minute really. I signed a couple autographs, posed for some photos and went out for Sangria and Chili Rellenos.
Me with Sandra Bernhard, Jack E. Jett and Chi Chi LaRue.
Get a load of the porn stash Sandra scored!
This morning, my date from the previous evening picked me up and set me on my back on the couch. Just as I thought we were going to have a go at it again he said “Sandra will thank me for this” and grabbed a nail clipper and proceeded to give me a pedicure…..HOT!!!!!
