Delayed For Destiny
Still in sunny Palm Springs. There was a delay that left us screwed out of our flight. Me and a handful of others were told to go to ticketing for re-routing. I am sooooo lucky that this happened on my home turf. All I did was go home. There were people sent to Ontario, an hour away, for a early filght somewhere else. There were these little girls trying to get to their soccer game or they would have to forfeit. Their father, the fearless leader, was prepared to drive the team to Phoenix that evening for a wider option of flights. Palm Springs “International” Airport closes at 10pm and only has a handful of flights a day. After 9 it’s slim pickins. I asked the re-booking agent why an International Airport such as this closes….at 10! He smiled and said because they fly to Canada. hot.
I am on the same flight again, hopefully the same problem will not occur. In the security line, I was in front of this kid obviously coming or going from some military activity. He was sporting the green back pack and crew cut. I myself have an Army issued back pack and flying in and out of PS you run into a lot of guys in the military. They sometimes mistake me for being in the “industry” and strike up Army chat. After some small talk we were both notified of our delay and the possibility of missing our connection. He looked at me, smiled and said “I’m getting on that next plane, you just jump on my back if need be and watch me plow through these people.” are you kiding me?, Alright Forest Gump, you got it….H-O-T!
When I got home, bathing in gratitude and looking forward to going out for a pint or two, I went to put the sandwhiches I had made earlier that morning in the fridge. Upon shutting the door I noticed something on the fridge…in plain sight, the tickets for the party Sunday night. Not so hot. I thanked the Disco Fates and put the tickets in my bag.
