Red Eye East

Posted by Johnny

I hope you all had a chance to hear Totally Hooked. Boston is one of my all-time favorite bands. Being from there makes me feel like that I can say, “those are my friends singing on that song!” I love a re-make, especially if it’s something that brings me back somewhere great and the song rocks!! Even better when the artist re-creates the song and wisely leaves original components ie: riffs, vocals etc. There are different facets to a song, facets that make it IT! Combining the familiar with something new and doing it well always gets me.

Speaking of Boston, I’m waiting for a plane to go there right now. It’s a red-eye, a first for me. It seems like the only sensible way to fly east. Today was great, I planned everything out with military-like efficiency. Gym, errands and a quick tidy of the house. I told Mike that he was forbidden to eat Beef Jerky anywhere outside of the kitchen….EVER AGAIN! For the last few days I have been collecting small shards of dried Jerky in the soles of my feet. Let me just tell you – that is over!

My flight leaves at 9:30 and after two small blue pills I will be awake in Beantown at 7am. Perfect, no time lost and a good night of rest so I can be fresh for the sub zero temperatures of mid February Boston. This weekend we are going to NYC for Alegria….a party on Sunday night at Crobar every Sunday of a 3 day weekend. There is no party like it. Definitely worth the trek through ice and snow to party with my NYC boyz! Tony Moran will be spinning, somebody I have never heard live, but find all of his collections to be deep, sexy and full of fire! It should be a great time. My best friend from Boston will be attending Alegria for the first time. I cannot wait to see her eyes light up as soon as we walk through the door.
