And Then There’s Maude
Posted by Johnny
It was very sad to hear about Bea Arthur’s passing today even though I’m certain it was a big relief for her. In honor of her remarkable career I thought I would post this hilarious scene from Maude because most people my age only know her as a Golden Girl.

You are so young (and beautiful). I grew up rotting my brain in front of the TV with Archie, Mary and Maude.
This show came on right after “Momma’s Family” on my local tv station when i was a kid. I never saw it until now. Bea Arthur is the original tranny of all time and I love her.
Did you ever see this?

Wow! That is quite an eye-opener for me! Honestly, I only ever encountered Maude on Nick @ Nite. That shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone since I was born only shortly after the series was over. Thanks for the link!
No prob! The fact that she and Rock Hudson sang this song about getting high is pretty surreal but the paragon of weirdness is when he says, “Remember when Amyl Nitrate was some guy’s name?” I’m so sure that’s what amyl nitrate meant to Rock Hudson in the 70s.
Johnny – you just ran by me at the SOWA market. I didn’t have a chance to say hi (and didn’t think you’d appreciate me running after you).
Welcome back to boston.
