More Than A Feeling

Posted by Ma Hazzard

There’s no doubt in my mind that Johnny’s brother had a good party while I was out of town. It’s human nature and I didn’t raise any fools. There was no trace of anything out of the ordinary when I got home … just my cats ignoring me for a while as they let me know how pissed off they were at me for leaving them.

Johnny created an audio entry about our last couple of hours together. I hope you noticed his outlook on being tied up in traffic in the tunnel due to an accident. Always remember, no matter how bad life seems to be at the moment – someone else has it much worse than you. Go ahead – tell me I’m old fashioned and I’ll reply to you “Bite Me”. It’s true. Take a few minutes – read the paper, listen to the news, talk to your neighbor or a very close friend. Then – sit back and meditate. Hello! Yeah – you’re in a hideous situation at this moment, but do you want to trade places with some of the other people out there? I think not.

So I’m home (in Cleveland). Bless Carmen – the home was spotless and the grass was cut. Due to the monsoons that have pummeled Cleveland (as well as New England) in the last week I figured I would need a herd of goats to get the grass in shape. Right back to the grindstone of working, but so much better because of my wonderful last three weeks.

Hope to get back up to Boston in Sept/Oct/Nov and visit the Cape – see the boys again – have more time with Johnny.

So Johnny says … gee, maybe shoulda done this and maybe shouldn’t have done that while Ma was in town. I say, “Bullshit”. From my perspective any time is valuable. So he had a few down times while I was there … don’t you think I want to be with him during those ‘down times’? Maybe I can’t fix them or offer up suggestions to fix them, but for me – just being there to somehow ’share the load’ is gratification enough for me and hopefully for him, too. Maybe you can understand the value to me of just walking from the car to a store with him, holding hands, saying nothing. If you can’t, I hope you have that experience someday with someone you hold dear to your heart and love. That would make a great commerical for the plastic cards … “Priceless”!!

It’s not just the “value to you” I understand, it’s the value OF you Ma Hazzard. You yourself are indeed priceless. What a well written post. I’ve been getting familiar with this blog and your words were the perfect way to wrap it up this evening.
