The San Francisco Bay Area Reported posted a lovely article about the porn star series on here! TV that starts tomorrow night. I was heavily featured in the article so I thought I would share it all with you.

This midnight I saw a great movie in Taipei speaking about Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”.

I think of TV star Johnny who likes to sing and dance… I expect if one day I can see your musical movie? Really great!

“If Johnny can make someone immediately love him, would he?” That’s a great topic to elaborate~ haha~

Johnny is a confirmed bachelor in more ways than one. Thanks for the link to the trailer – it looks great!

A meaningful documentary film “Wrangler: Anatomy of an Icon” was played in the theater last Sunday noon. It collects many old fashioned and really classic funny dialogue patterns that still work today!

I chose to see this movie for understanding more about gay history. Mr. Wrangler’s life is a legend. He happened to be born in a tough time, but also the best time for gay star. I think it is more difficult to become influential in today’s prosperous gay porn industry. I recommend young gay stars to see this movie. It’s helpful for positioning one’s own career life.

However, the reason why I’d like to talk about this film in Johnny’s blog is because an interesting scene at the end of this movie. Mr. Wrangler says one of the reasons he retired from porn film is that people might think: how miserable this old man still plays porn film! (I’m neutral about this..) Then he would feel very sorry to his wife. (wife? yes, wife!) He is really gentleman and said there are more beautiful young handsome guys and no one wants to see him anymore. At this key moment, the movie director arranged several DVD cover images of Johnny’s videos, such as “In His Dream” to express so-called “young handsome guy”! I almost shouted out: that’s Johnny! I don’t know why, I feel a little proud at that time. Ha ha~

Finally, I like the movie because of Johnny~

Oh God. Jack Wrangler was my first porn crush back when I was too young to even check was the fuss was about. When I was around 15, I bought a mainstream magazine that featured a short piece on gay porn (a small revolution in itself.) The most thrilling part for me was a full-page picture of Jack Wrangler in coveralls, leaning against a truck, taking one last drag on a cigarette in one hand while starting to unzip with the other. A rather tame picture, save for the implications, but boy did it put my brain on overdrive.

Seeing that gorgeous, virile and confident-looking man was the first step in realizing that you could be out and proud without conforming to the sorry stereotypes which seemed the only visible alternative at the time. I can’t begin to tell you what this meant, in terms of moral support, to an isolated gay teenager of that time.

I like to think that today someone like Johnny, so far removed from the usual stereotypes, can play the same role to other isolated young gays in helping them build up their confidence and come to terms with their orientation (paging Robert in Tennessee…) It seems therefore fitting, and oddly thrilling, that Mr Wrangler himself should hold him up as an example. Like a passing of the torch…

It’s funny you should mention that. It’s one of the themes of the Here! TV special this post is about. Look out for a post about the star studded premiere soon!

Chris — the bf (yes, I have one now, it’s been that long since I’ve really commented on here :P ) — and I are just watching that series for the first time right now. Like, I literally turned it on just now as I logged in. So far, it’s really interesting!!!

Talking about gays on TV, have any of you read about this yet?

Today all over Italy everyone and their mama are scratching their head wondering why would anyone bother making a movie about two guys losing a sheep.

Where’d you go? You not love us anymore? Long time no see!
