Summer Essentials
Today was a benefit pool party in the Hollywood Hills thrown by an old acquaintance from my South Beach days. In the last year my friend Michael had worked briefly with him in LA and it came to light that we all had run in the same circle when he and I lived together a number of years ago.
Warren Gluck was the DJ, who has always been and continues to be one of my top three. His sound and energy is perfect for outdoor venues such as this where friends are getting together for nothing more than to celebrate a fabulous Saturday hanging out by the pool. It turned out to be perfect in every way, music, weather, and most of all… friends.
Michael and Mitch were the ones to invite me and we spent 5 hrs sitting at the same corner of the pool with our feet submerged up to our knees. It was the perfect spot. We could see everybody coming in and it was nowhere near the exit spots. The only drawback was that when we got out of the pool our lower extremities were so water logged that they looked like they belonged to a Shar Pei.
I had plans to do some things with Boy Wonder later that day, but after 5 hours in the sun I was spent. Plus, we stayed behind to help with some of the take down of the inflatable decorations that hung from the trees. They had to be at least 8 feet long and required a lot of force to deflate and roll up. Luckily I had some help. I arrived at the Spa (George’s house) just in time to hang out with some friends of ours for a quick dinner of grilled Ahi and corn on the cob. Tomorrow is a HUGE day, so all the rest I can get now, the better.
