I was a victim of theft from my luggage during a trip to Louisville. In short it took countless hours and letters and 6 mo to recover a monetary compensation for an item that was worth $230. I doubt they even receive cost of living salary increases, so in their minds, why make the effort. College kids on the other hand, still have some level of hope left, or at least competitive edge. But you were in the right to maintain your composure with the customer service agents. As a former flight attendant I know first hand that maintaining decorum with them will usually get you further. Trust me,it was no easier for me being a non-revenue, standby employee to get any special treatment whilst trying to get on a flight. Bribery with candy & compliments can work wonders tho!!!
